Please describe your work philosophy in one sentence.

My work philosophy is that if I’m not helping people, then I’m not doing my job.

What unique problem does your company solve for restaurants?

Appetize POS is a complete platform that includes everything from POS terminals and hand-held devices to self-service kiosks and mobile ordering solutions. Our platform was designed for the highest volume - and the most demanding when it comes to customer experience - businesses in the world.

Appetize has always been an innovator. Technology is in our DNA. We joined RTN because of the organization’s leadership in bringing industry experts together to discuss issues, provide guidance, and set standards. We joined to be a part of that, and to connect with industry leaders, to stay informed, and to add our voice to educate others on frictionless ordering and fulfillment technologies.

What's your favorite personal past-time?

Traveling with my wife and daughter.

What three words would you use to describe what's happening in the restaurant industry right now?

Adapting, Accelerating, Overcoming

What's your favorite restaurant?

The real answer is any place I can sit down with my wife and daughter and have a great meal. But, if I had to pick one place it would likely be Bouchon at the Venetian in Las Vegas. I often find myself in Vegas for business and Bouchon is a great getaway from the bustle of the strip and the trade show floor. The food is perfect, the service great and for Vegas, it can be called “reasonable.” It is great for a business meeting, a romantic dinner, or a team outing.

What's your most-used restaurant app?

My wife is gluten-free so whenever we travel the go-to app is FindMe Gluten Free - a fantastic resource. When it’s just me, my go-to is Yelp.

Restaurateur you most admire & why.

Can't pick one. Thomas Keller, clearly, for what he's done to the food scene. David Chang has built an empire based on incredible food in a no-nonsense approach. Gunter Seeger provided me with the best dining experience in my life and has trained hundreds of leading chefs and restaurateurs... his perfection is unbelievable.

What technology are you most excited about for the future of restaurants?

Since the onset of COVID-19 we've seen a once-in-a-lifetime acceleration of technology driven around the touchless transaction. I think the availability and overall usability of mobile web solutions has the opportunity to create a unique win-win of technology, cost and service to guests and restaurant operators alike.
