- What unique problem does your company solve for restaurants?
Mako Networks brings brands and franchises effortless, nonstop, secure networking that will empower a frictionless consumer experience. We deliver simple, secure, PCI-certified networks for distributed enterprises, with a specialization in restaurants. We’ve been delivering SD-WAN and SASE solutions long before it was the status quo in networking deployments. We provide the technology, devices, management platform, and managed services our customers rely on.
- Why did your company join RTN?
In joining RTN, our goal is to help restaurants create frictionless customer experiences, secure their networks, ensure operational uptime, and meet compliance requirements, all while implementing new technologies that the industry demands. It's a tall order, and Mako will partner with restaurant brands to deliver technology at scale. Brands and franchises ultimately need a network that just works, and we’ve got them covered.
- What’s your favorite personal pastime?
My favorite personal pastime is to travel with my family. It is important to me to carve out time and space for my family, and we have been fortunate to have traveled the world enjoying the experiences and cultures of all the places we have visited. I also travel frequently for business and enjoy visiting Mako’s customers and partners stateside and internationally.
- What three words would you use to describe what’s happening in the restaurant industry right now?
Transformation. Digitization. Automation
- What’s your most-used restaurant app and why?
My most-used restaurant app is DoorDash, as it provides easy access to new restaurant options wherever I am.
- What restaurateur do you most admire and why?
The restauranteur I admire most is Tilman Fertitta, who, despite his vast financial success, is fully committed to civic service and charitable organizations, including several local Houston area foundations and charities where he’s based.
- What technology are you most excited about for the future of restaurants and why?
The technology I’m excited about most for the future of restaurants is new secure remote access technologies integrated with secure networking platforms like Mako Networks’ Periscope, a secure remote management tool built for distributed retail enterprises, including restaurants. Part of the Mako CMS, Periscope provides secure remote access to third-party systems, such as point-of-sales (PoS) devices, closed circuit television (CCTV) systems, internet of things (IoT) devices and more. This type of technology allows restaurants to have secure access to back-office and third-party systems as a secure alternative to makeshift approaches without requiring costly onsite tech visits or specialized hardware at franchise locations.
